Why you need Firebug if you’re running a Cargo site

In my opinion, Cargo Collective is the top choice for beginner web portfolio posting. Nowhere else can you literally get your portfolio site up and running in less than an hour without knowing a thing about coding. The templates available are great (considering most of them are free) but what if you want to make a couple minor changes?

If you’re running Firefox, Firebug is a must have. Let me just lay out how easy this is:

1. Download Firebug

2. Highlight what you would like to change (for example, I want my link to be black, not blue)

3. Firebug will then show you which line of code to edit based on what you have highlighted.

Yes. It’s that easy.

Get on Cargo, and make it your own.

A Custom Portfolio

If you’re a CommArts subscriber, you may remember a couple years back seeing a portfolio for Ed. If you were as in love with this as I was, consider where it came from.

The Breakdown:

These custom portfolios are absolutely beautiful. I’ve been researching this a lot lately, and while they seem a bit steep on the price scale, I say it’s worth it. Here’s why:

If you don’t have a degree in book binding, you could still purchase the materials at a relatively low cost, however- we often neglect to calculate how many attempts it will take until the job is done right. Secondly, you can have your name/logo printed or embossed into these. Pretty awesome.
